Specialty finance: the next frontier of private credit

Specialty finance emerged in earnest after the global financial crisis as tighter bank regulation, stricter capital requirements and changes to loan accounting led banks to curtail many types of specialty lending. Now a liquidity gap is growing, providing opportunities for compelling risk-adjusted returns. This coincides with a growing need among allocators to diversify their private credit exposure.
